Dextran Sulfate Naphth Salt

A versatile polysaccharide compound, dextran sulfate sodium salt is used for many applications in biomedical/clinical research and pharmaceuticals. It functions as an anticoagulant, antiviral, and antilipemic agent and is useful in the study of colitis (inflammatory bowel disease). It also has strong hydrophilic properties that can bind to cell membranes and supports the transfection of cells. Dextran sulfate also helps to prepare a precipitating reagent for the determination of HDL cholesterol.
